Our Top Picks
Holiday sales events are the most common time to buy an iPad, but discounts only help if the model, storage size, and condition fit what you need. Before comparing offers, decide which iPad generation covers your core tasks, then judge each deal against that baseline.
This guide focuses on how to shop iPad deals sensibly. It covers the current 11-inch model, the M5 iPad Pro, and renewed older iPads that often appear in promotions. The picks below are grouped by use case rather than by discount size.

How to Choose
- Verify the baseline price: Check a price history tracker or a previous listing before assuming a deal is a bargain. Some promotions simply return a product to its normal price.
- Storage size: A 128GB model covers most students and casual users. Heavy video editing and large offline libraries justify the 256GB tier.
- Renewed versus new: Renewed iPads cost less but may have cosmetic wear and shorter remaining warranty coverage. Read the seller’s grading and return terms.
- Accessories: Apple Pencil and keyboard support depend on the model. Confirm compatibility before buying a case or stylus at the same time.
- Return window: Holiday purchases often have extended return periods, but some third-party sellers use shorter ones. Keep the receipt and packaging until you have tested the device at home.
The Best Picks Reviewed
Apple iPad 11-Inch with A16 Chip, Silver, 128GB
The 11-inch iPad with the A16 chip offers a Liquid Retina display, Wi-Fi 6, and Touch ID with a 128GB base configuration. It is the most balanced choice for students, families, and anyone who wants a modern iPad without paying for professional features.
Apple iPad 11-Inch with A16 Chip, Blue, 128GB
This colorway uses the same A16 platform and 128GB storage as the silver model. Choose it for the color if you already know the base configuration suits your needs, and compare any promotion against the silver listing first.
Apple iPad Pro 11-Inch (M5), Space Black, 256GB
The M5 iPad Pro adds an Ultra Retina XDR display, LiDAR Scanner, Wi-Fi 7, and Face ID. It suits creative professionals and power users who need extra headroom. Sale pricing on this tier should be measured against the value of its display and processor upgrades.
Apple iPad 2021 10.2-Inch, Space Gray, Renewed
The renewed 2021 iPad with 64GB storage remains a usable option for reading, streaming, and basic schoolwork. Its older processor and display limit long-term value, so it works best as a low-cost secondary device rather than a primary computer.
Apple iPad 8th Generation 10.2-Inch, Silver, Renewed
The renewed 8th-generation iPad is the most budget-focused option here. It handles web browsing, e-books, and video streaming without fuss, but its age means fewer years of future software support. Confirm the battery condition and remaining warranty before buying.
Frequently Asked Questions
When should I buy an iPad during a holiday sale?
Buy when the model you want is on sale at a price you have already verified against past listings. Waiting for a specific date is less useful than knowing your target price and sticking to it.
Is a renewed iPad worth it?
It can be, provided the seller offers a clear warranty and return policy. Renewed units suit budget buyers, while new units make more sense if you want the longest support window.
Do I need the 256GB model?
Only if you store large files locally, edit video, or keep large offline libraries. Many users rely on cloud storage and stay comfortable with 128GB.
Which iPad is best for note-taking?
The 11-inch A16 model and the M5 iPad Pro both support Apple Pencil workflows. Check which stylus generation works with each model before purchase, because compatibility differs across iPad generations.
Final Thoughts
For most shoppers, the 11-inch A16 iPad in silver is the strongest value once a deal is verified. The M5 iPad Pro is worth the premium only for demanding creative work, while the renewed 2021 and 8th-generation models make sense for tight budgets.
